Ujeni Records presents Malawi’s “electronic one man band” Faith Mussa and the Afro band Mbanaye at the Watana Festival taking place on Ilha de Moçambique from 21 -23 September 2018.

Through the Mobility Fund for Malawian Artists Ujeni Records aims to provide the band Mbanaye and the artist Faith Mussa with mobility funding to support their participation in international opportunities. This will make possible travelling to international festivals for showcasing, networking, meeting other industry professionals from other countries to build a sustainable network.

“What we want to achieve is for top Malawian artists to gain international exposure and an increased network, which in the long term will lay the foundation for more transnational collaborations between Malawian artists and artists, producers and other industry professionals in neighboring countries. In time, we hope this will bring about a ripple effect for Malawian artists, paving the way for more future opportunities for Malawian artists and thus putting Malawi on the musical world map.”

Karstein Grønnesby – Founder, Ujeni Records

Watana Festival is an annual festival on the Mozambique Island with multicultural and sociocultural character, involving the different arts present in the north of the country and beyond borders.
