Institute for Creative Arts

Artist in residence, director and performer Antje Schupp will be participating in a collaborative performance ‘Pink Dollar’, which will explore the topic of pink money; the spending power of the LGBT community, in SA.

Referred to as “literally queer”, the production features dancer and choreographer Kieron Jina, photographer Mbali Mdluli and DJ Annalyzer.

“’Pink Dollar’ mixes styles as it mixes the backgrounds of its performers. Club music meets contemporary dance, performance art meets documentary footage, Xhosa songs meet European Rap”, says Schupp.

The piece will also look into how the pink economy relates to South Africa’s acceptance of homosexuals, trans- and gender queer people and the differences between the black, coloured and white communities.
