Joseph Kasau | Residency

Congolese artist Joseph Kasau is in Switzerland on a residency in the context of the tricontinental «Quilombo» project, bringing together artists from Brazil, DR Congo and Switzerland to research and discuss the topic of quilombo.

Martin Perret | Residency

Swiss percussionist, composer and band leader Martin Perret is interested in learning about South Africa’s many musical traditions and histories from local musicians.

During this research trip, Namibian performer and writer Nashilongweshipwe Mushaandja will further his project ZILIN, a conceptual project-in-the-making deeply interested in African archival music and sonic collections across place and time.

Gregory Hari | Residency

During his six-month residency in Cape Town, South Africa, Swiss artist Gregory Hari aims to continue his research on cultural and racial stereotyping and the representation of political power in architecture.

Mpho Mokgadi & Philippe Stalder | Research Trip

South African photographer Mpho Mokgadi and Swiss journalist Philippe Stalder travel to Ghana on a research trip for their project investigating the neo-colonial trade system underpinning the Swiss chocolate industry.

Kieron Jina | Residency

South African performance artist, choreographer and dancer Kieron Jina will be an artist in residence at Kaserne Basel in Switzerland. His socially engaged work explores the shifting identities of queer people and challenges stereotypes.

Swiss artist Flurina Casty describes herself as a storyteller and employs various literary and performance forms to articulate her work, which is informed by in-depth experience-based research and often focuses on myths and histories surrounding a piece of architecture, urban site or natural topography.

Ella Elidas Banda / Ozhopé Collective | Research Trip (virtual)

Malawian artist Ella Elida Banda has been selected to join the Sommerakademie Paul Klee 2021-2022 hybrid physical/digital programme focusing on the feminisation of politics under the curatorial direction of Dora García.

Andy Storchenegger | Residency

Swiss artist Andy Storchenegger’s artwork deals with the collective phenomena of the idea of paradise. During his residency in Zambia, he intends to extend ongoing research and connect with local artists to learn more about Zambian culture and how masks are used in traditional ceremonies.
