Artist

Nico Krebs

South Africa | Fine Arts

February - April 2017 — Fine Arts

After working on a project that focused on the landmass in the East of Europe, Nico Krebs would like to explore a new part of the world with his residency in Johannesburg.

He would like to continue his photographic, sculptural and film practice and focus on a line between the documentary approach and fictional story telling.

About his work he says: “I use mainly Photography and Film as means of gathering ‘sculpting’ material: out of collected snapshots and scenes a more complex composition is arranged. Usually after a longer process of evaluation and re-making and re-organisation, a new form takes shape.”v “I like to put myself into new situations to gather new impressions, ideas, scents and memories, all of which influence my process,” he says.

Born in 1979 in Switzerland, Krebs currently lives and works in Berlin.
