In July 2021 Swiss DJ Amos Joan aka Amos a La Playa was invited to Abidjan, Ivory Coast by La Sunday to perform and participate in a masterclass series aimed at introducing young creatives to the professional music industry. Following on from this, La Sunday have invited Swiss DJ Faye to perform at the 3rd La Sunday Abidjan Festival that will take place 26 December 2021.
The festival evolved organically from the day parties and has grown across editions. The 2019 festival included 20 DJs from across the continent split over two stages dedicated to Afrobeat and electronic-house. The focus of all La Sunday’s events is discovering new sounds, music genres, DJs and artist that will be the next stars on the continent and diaspora.
DJ Faye was one the first DJs from the diaspora to play a set at La Sunday Festival. Born in Ivory Coast, performing in her native country is an opportunity she says brings her pride and joy. In addition to playing the festival, DJ Faye’s tour will also include performances and collaborative exchange with local DJs and artists from the La Sunday team in neighbouring Accra, Ghana. This trip will allow DJ Faye to deepen and expand her West African network.
DJ Faye started her career as a DJ in 2015 with her collective 3hunna6 in the Swiss capital city of Bern. She also had the opportunity to start her own event; Queendom of Trap from 2016-2018, which went on to open many doors for her throughout Switzerland, such as being booked to play at the Gurten festival in 2017. At the young age of nineteen she performed at the Openair Frauenfeld, the largest hip-hop festival in Europe. In 2019 3hunna6 where invited to perform again. DJ Faye has performed internationally in France, England and on the African continent. DJ Faye is well known in Switzerland and especially for her love of African music, dancehall and hip hop/trap.
