One of South Africa’s top female bass players, Austebza, will be touring South Africa, Mozambique and Botswana to inspire the next generation of female musicians and fans. The tour is produced and managed by BakTu Musik.

The project is aimed at empowering women through a female instrumentalist who is successful in her own way. Austebza is a radiant example of woman-power in the music industry. Alongside leading her own band and playing bass for and touring the world with renowned musicians, Austebza is also releasing her music independently and is currently working on her second album.

During the tour, Austebza will collaborate with songstresses Kearoma Rantao in Botswana and Onésia Muholove in Mozambique and Symphony in eSwatini.

Austebza will be travelling with a five-piece band including a Zimbabwean drummer among other local musicians as part of her band. This infuses her music with elements of African sound in addition to international collaborations outside South Africa.

The tour will include workshops at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique, where Austebza will focus on sharing her experiences in the industry as a woman and how she manages to keep going in the tough music business. Her band will also be part of her practical workshops with the students.
