Johannesburg >> Antananarivo
This project welcomes a foreign artist to Is’Art Galerie / La Teinturerie for a one month residency. Naadira Patel has been selected by the board of La Teinturerie for this residency from 26th August to 16th September 2019 at Is’art Galerie in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
Naadira Patel is an artist, designer and a researcher. She currently runs StudioStudio, a multi-disciplinary studio for art, research, design and project management, covering a range of publishing related practices, predominantly focused on issues concerning social justice, mining, and education, while lecturing part time in the Department of Visual Arts, Wits School of Arts, Johannesburg. She has an MA in Cultural Analysis (2015) from the University of Amsterdam’s School for Cultural Analysis, The Netherlands and a BA Fine Arts (2010) from the Wits School of Arts, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Her interest in participating in a residency at La Teinturerie stems from an interest in researching ideas of heritage, history and migration as it pertains to the field of oceanic humanities and tracing her heritage across the Indian Ocean.
