Landry Nguetsa and Christiana Tabaro at the 72nd Avignon Festival Seminare

The Avignon Festival continues to be a globally significant international event for the contemporary performing arts field and for emerging stage practitioners in particular,  running from 13 to 21 July 2018. Every year, it hosts over 3 500 professionals and welcomes close to 150 000 spectators.

For the second year, Pro Helvetia Johannesburg supported the participation of artists from our region at the festival. With Swiss dramaturg Eva-Maria Bertschy as their guide, the group saw 17 performances, took part in four meetings with artists, and had many debates and discussions.
