Call for applications: Festival d’ Avignon Seminar

The Avignon Festival in France, is a well-known and considered hugely important contemporary performing arts international event. Every year, it hosts over 3 500 professionals and welcomes close to 150 000 spectators. The 72nd edition will take place from 6 to 24 July 2018.

As part of the Avignon Festival, an intensive Seminar Programme is offered to a selection of emerging stage practitioners from various countries.  The Seminar Programme  provides an opportunity for an immersion into the world of contemporary stage art at Avignon.  Participants watch performances, have discussions with each other, invited guests and artists.

The 6th edition of this international project for emerging stage practitioners will take place from 13 to 21 July 2018 and is again jointly organised by the Avignon festival and Pro Helvetia Zurich, with support for African participation by Pro Helvetia Johannesburg.

The selected African candidates’ travel expenses,stay and programme participation will be taken care of by Pro Helvetia (lodging, daily allowances, entrances to the spectacles, flights and visa).

Applications sent after May 04, 2018 cannot be considered.

Upcoming maintenance work

The application portal myprohelvetia will be updated from 1.1.-7.1.2024. Due to these changes, open applications must be finalized and submitted via the current online portal (myprohelvetia.ch) by the latest 23:59 on 31 December 2023. Until this date, the deadlines and criteria outlined in the current guidelines and calls for applications apply. New applications can be created and submitted in the application portal as of 8 January 2024.
