Rimini Protokoll at Woordfees 2018

Stefan Kaegi and Rimini Protokoll will stage a collaborative project titled 100% Stellenbosch at this year’s Woordfees Festival.

The production will see 100 people from all backgrounds, communities, ages and beliefs  in Stellenbosch, sharing how they understand their town and how they interact with their histories and lifting the layers of what lies beneath conceptions and understanding of their community.

Participants will share their stories through words and relationships against a background of graphs, charts, perceptive social questions in a uniquely designed theatrical experience.

The production will be performed in HB Thom Theatre on 06 March at 4pm.

Kaegi is a Swiss-born theatre maker who produces documentary theatre plays, radio shows and works in the urban environment in a diverse variety of collaborative partnerships. Using research, public auditions and conceptual processes, he gives voice to ‘experts’ who are not trained actors but have something to tell. Kaegi co-produces works with Helgard Haug and Daniel Wetzel, under the label “Rimini Protokoll”.

“Rimini Protokoll’s purpose is to pry apart the sense of reality and present all its facets from unusual perspectives,” says Kaegi.

Woordfees is a ten-day theatre and music festival held in Stellenbosch in Cape Town. Now in its 20th year, the festival hosts over 500 productions in 34 venues to audiences of approximately 50,000 per year.
