Call for applications: Afro Luso Curatorial Training

Afro Luso is calling on curators to apply for a curatorial workshop taking place from 9 to 13 October 2017 in Lusaka. 

This a five day art and cultural program, bringing together different artistic disciplines to develop skills on curating within the Modzi Arts space in Lusaka. A trainer from the SADC region will exchange knowledge and inspiration with fellow artists and showcasing high-quality African artistic expression.

AfroLuso gives participants a unique opportunity to confront with the creative and professional process of experienced professionals, help them understand their own strengths and weakness and develop new skills.  Applicants can be emerging or mid-career creatives within the art sector, or work in galleries/museums/cultural heritage institutions or hold positions in the art public sector.

The Project consists of two components, a workshop from 9th to 13th of October 2017 and a panel discussion and presentations on 14 October 2017.

Who can apply?
Artists and curators from 20 to 40 years of age living around SADC region.

This is the second year of AfroLuso Project. Last year’s focus was on performing arts with artists from Zimbabwe and South Africa, curated by singer-songwriter Namvula.

Upcoming maintenance work

The application portal myprohelvetia will be updated from 1.1.-7.1.2024. Due to these changes, open applications must be finalized and submitted via the current online portal (myprohelvetia.ch) by the latest 23:59 on 31 December 2023. Until this date, the deadlines and criteria outlined in the current guidelines and calls for applications apply. New applications can be created and submitted in the application portal as of 8 January 2024.
