Fak’ugesi Festival’s Digital Africa Residency

Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival annually hosts the Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Residency. This is a creative technology-art and digital residency which runs for a month before and leads into the festival. It aims to develop young digital creatives who collaborate to produce work for a digitally interactive art exhibition.
Since 2016 the Fak’ugesi Festival has collaborated with Pro Helvetia Johannesburg and the ANT Fund to focus young digital artists and makers from the SADC region. In 2017 Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Residency will proudly host digital artists Komborerai Chapfika and Dananayi Muwanigwa from Harare, Zimbabwe and Julia Hango from Windhoek, Namibia.
Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival is an annual festival focusing on technology, creativity and technology on the African continent. Hosted by the Tshimologong Precinct in Braamfontein, Johannesburg – the festival will run from 6th to 16th September 2017.
The Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Exhibition, which will showcase the Fak’ugesi Residents and others, will open on the 8th September. Highlights of the Fak’ugesi Festival in 2017 are the “Making Weekend” (8 – 10 Sept) focusing on skills development; a “Fak’ugesi Conference” (14 Sept) engaging international and local practitioners on the role of collaboration and inter disciplinarily engagement for creativity and technology and the Fak’ugesi Beats Bloc Party (16 Sept), curated by We Heart Beat.
