Simba and Milton Gulli perform at Sauti za Busara Festival

9 – 12 February 2017
Mozambican rap duo Simba and Milton Gulli are set to perform at the Sauti za Busara Festival in Zanzibar this February. The duo incorporates traditional African rhythms with contemporary jazz in their raps and have been together since 2011.
Born “Nelson Angelo Sitoi” in Maputo, Simba is one of the pioneers of English rapping in Mozambique and is the only hip-hop artist to have ever performed at the Mozambique Jazz Festival, Mozambique’s largest music festival.
He was introduced to the South African music seen via his single Lovely Day featuring Lizha James, which earned him a Channel O award nomination. He also formed the hip-hop band Simba and the Rocats and started his own label, Brown Records.
Milton Gulli is both performer and producer and has been a guest artist on a number of albums, mainly by hip-hop acts from Lisbon, where he grew up. These include appearances on Sam The Kid, XEG, Sagaz and with the reggae band Mercado Negro.
Sauti za Busara, the flagship project of Busara Promotions, takes place every year in Stone Town during February. In 2014, the festival celebrated its 11th edition, bringing together diverse artists and audiences and building appreciation for East African music.
