Lindiwe Matshikiza and Daniel Sixte collaborate around Grace

One Take Grace is an art-film-documentary project based on the working life of fifty year old domestic worker and freelance film and television actress, Grace Bapela.

Lindiwe Matshikiza has been developing the project with Bapela over the past four years: conducting audio interviews, collecting content from the films and television series she has appeared in, and filming Bapela as she moves through the two seemingly contradictory worlds she occupies, each with their own created and/or projected identities that interface with the private and the personal self.

Daniel Sixte will accompany the film through a comic book and a series of drawings. They look to develop a narrative thread that combines the real footage with animated sequences and characters. Their collaborative working period is planned to run from 10 August – 30 November 2015.
